Today I am thankful that Annie is finally starting to REALLY get that I am her momma and that I am not going anywhere. Before the past week, she showed very little preference towards Justin or me when other people were around. She didn't mind if someone else was holding her. She has always smiled the biggest and most for us, but that was obviously not enough. This week though, she has changed her tune. NO ONE was allowed to hold her during the party today except for me - not even Justin - she would freak out if someone even tried. She has been my girl all week, and it is really nice to see our hard work paying off. It is really tiring for me - especially my arm that never gets a rest - but I am not going to complain because I know how big of a deal this is for her in her journey towards attaching to us. Break out the slings!!
Our Tet party today was a total success. We got to meet some really awesome families from our area with precious children from Vietnam. One family is still waiting to bring home their daughter and I am praying she comes home soon. There were 8 families total. We mostly sat and compared stories while the kids played. It was at our house and I loved having everyone over. I am really sad but I got almost no pictures. Annie would not let Justin hold her, so she was with me the whole time and taking pictures one handed is not easy. I got a picture of all of the kids on the couch, but I don't want to post it because I didn't ask all of the families if they would mind their picture on here. I FINALLY got to meet Heather in real life. We have known each other through blogging for a long time. It was great seeing everyone and watching all of the kids run wild.
Lucy obviously LOVES to be thrown as high as anyone can get her. I can't explain enough how much of a daredevil she is. She is scared of nothing that involves thrill. She would make Justin do this all day long, but it gets tiring really quickly. She always kicks her legs out in an X at the peak of the throw and squeals with glee the entire time. It really looks like she is about to hit the ceiling. He gets her high, but not quite that high. I wish we had done it outside. It would look crazy high in the air then. We will do that soon. I am trying to get a little more exciting on my pics versus just a normal portrait each day. Most days it is hard to think of something cool. Hopefully I will become more creative because of this little project.
Look at the joy on her face.
The ONLY picture I have of the girls from the party today. Pitiful.
A little rest after church.

Love the pics - we look forward to them everyday and you make my amateur photographer husband jealous many days. He swears you have a lighting kit up in your house 24/7. :)
I have a quick question for you totally unrelated to the girls or photography. There is a picture of Annie in her pjs and there is a wall behind her painted multiple colors. I love the color block look and I'd love to see more of the room in hopes to build my confidence in doing it in our child to be's nursery. We are adopting from Taiwan, hopefully, later this year. THANKS!
Kel, your pics are getting better and better. Keep it up girl!
Oh my--I love the photos of Lucy flying through the air! She looks so happy. Great photos.
I've not had much time for the computer these past several days, but it's wonderful to kind of get caught up on your blog and all the pictures. I love that you've taken on such a big challenge of posting each day for the year.
Your Tet celebration sounds like it was great fun. I'm still looking forward to your next visit to Nashville! Give your babies hugs from Petunia and me.
i knew it would be a success! xo
dude. just posted from yesterday. and getting ready to have today's up.
your images? they are amazing. clearly, everyone else knows it too. way to go, friend.
love annie's jammies. love the one of lucy on the floor after church.
and the most? love that annie knows that YOU ARE MAMA!!! yay God!

It was great to finally meet you & your family in person! Your little ones are simply stunning and adorable beyond words!
LOVE the pics of Lucy in mid air!
I'm glad the party was a success. It's great that Annie is wanting her Mama now too!
so i'm sick of telling you how cute your kids are...i kid..i kid. they're stinkin' cute!
way to go with keeping up on daily posts! i think i may start a week in review, even though i'm a few weeks behind. anything to get me to pick up my camera.
Beautiful pictures! You are a great photographer. I love how you can get action shots that are not blurry. Would you be willing to share what type of camera you use?
Your daughters are precious!
Great pix as always. Glad you mentioned that Lucy wasn't as close to the ceiling as it looks. My first thought was ouch! Congratulations on your news about Annie. You have worked so hard to get where you are! She is a beautiful little girl and very, very loved. Soak it up, mama!
so glad your party was a success and that little Annie is bonding!! I know that must just make your heart burst! Love the pics of Lucy in the air-I can imagine she must be laughing at the top of her lungs! checking in everyday is a ton of fun! You are doing wonderful on the daily posts!! megan
yor a successful party! I never get pictures of events like that, and always regret it later.
Wow, Lucy gets some serious height on those throws! How fun!
Just wanted you to know that I am just beginning in the photography realm (sooo just beginnning..) and I am so inspired by you. I think it's great that there are so many moms out there taking these awesome pictures of their kids. What a legacy to pass on.
It's really wonderful to hear that Annie is starting to "get it", as in mom is never going away.
Sounds like such a fun party! I'm so bummed because I've been waiting to get a test date for my boards (another set!) and a seat came up for Feb 2 in Chicago...I grabbed it and booked my flt before I realized it'd mean I'll be missing our local Tet party with the other VN families. Bummer!
The pictures are so cute and the girls looks beautiful. Travis throws my kids like that (except Shane, whose poor little body totally tenses because he clearly doesn't enjoy that thrill) and it scares the crud out of me every time. I'm always convinced Jack is going to smash into the ceiling!
Forgot to tell you how much I LOVE monkey toes and acrobats! LeeLee
awww. can I come to your party next year? We have ZILCH down here - it's sooo depressing. Your party sounds like a BLAST!
Ok I admit that first picture totally looks like she is going to smash into the ceiling and scared the crap out of me! She looks like she is having sooooo much fun!
Oh my gosh. Lucy really looks like she's going to hit the ceiling!
I love the pictures. Really cute.
I love those pictures of Lucy being thrown in the air! Great fun with Dad! Yes, the Tet Party was fun! Thank you!! (P.S. It's OK with me to post the picture)
