Lucy and I have been trying to come up with fun things to do each day since the weather is still so perfect. Last Friday we went to the aquarium and today we went to the zoo again. Lucy has been kind of whiny lately, but she still had a good time. I think she might be working on her 2 year molars because she just seems more fussy lately. Or else we are getting a preview of our days with a feisty 2 year old. Speaking of, yesterday she had a fit for 20 minutes because she could not have 2 vitamins. I could not reason with her, console her, nothing. She stood by the kitchen counter and wailed for 20 minutes. I finally got her distracted enough to get her mind off of it. It was pretty ridiculous.
I got to have a long talk with Sherri (Grace's mom - I am too lazy to look up the link thing) tonight. It was so great to catch up with her and hear all about how Grace is doing. Lucy and Grace have such a special bond that we will work to maintain the rest of our lives. I consider them sisters. We talked about our feelings about everything going on and how it will affect the girls someday. We are both so upset with all of all of this. I need to get all of my Que Son girlies together SOON!
Another article came out today about Vietnam adoptions. Apparently Vietnam is really upset with the allegations that the US made against them. I can't say that I blame them because the article is very harsh and they are claiming that all that the US is accusing them of is not true. This mess continues to get worse and worse. I do think that there are two sides to every story. I think that both the US and Vietnam are at fault for the problems. The blame should not be placed on one country or the other. Both sides have made some BIG mistakes. We all need to take a step back, stop pointing fingers, and figure out a system that will work better. Because the bottom line is, there are thousands of children in Vietnam that are in need of homes and now there is no chance of homes being made in the US after September (or maybe July). Sad. I am still having such a hard time digesting all of this. I truly did believe that the US and Vietnam were going to work out a new agreement and adoptions would continue. To be honest, sometimes I have a hard time knowing what in the world to believe.
Anyway, here are some recent pictures of Lucy. She is the greatest blessing of our lives.

What sweet pics of your girl...I love the ferris wheel one : )
yeah, can't make out the July/Sept thing...of course I am hoping for Sept but we will see
Such cute Lucy pictures, as usual. I really haven't made sense of this whole mess yet, but I do agree with you that there are two sides to the story. I just don't know what to think.
Love these pictures. Maybe we will get our referral. I hope so. Keep praying!
OMG! You are the most stylish mother! Can't believe you got Lucy a pair of TR! You Rock!!
As for VN's adoption, I really hope that things clear up soon...real soon bc I would like to start adopting in a yr or two.
is miss lucy wearing a pair of true religion jeans?!:)
Kell, Way to go, none of the artsy fartsy, I'm hanging off a cliff shots. We are about to lose it around here. WE NEED A LUCY FIX. Love Pa Pa
Fabulous pics as always...the one with the ferris wheel in the background looks like a tourism ad for Texas - just great!
great pictures kelly!
i agree with nancy, you should send the ferris wheel pic to the tx cvb!
and the jeans are fab...
xoxo
Yea! She's finally able to wear her TR jeans! You mentioned before that you couldn't keep them on her skinny rear! I just got Luci the jean skirt, it's too adorable, although hubby thinks she looks sixteen.
I agree about there being two sides to every story. Both countries are furious and I pray that we can find some resolve instead of having the "I'm taking my ball and going HOME!" mentality.
I just adore the pigtails on Miss Lucy! Too precious!
Kelly,
I'm right there with you wondering what on earth to think...
Lana can throw some pretty impressive tantrums herself, so I can totally relate to the 20 minute tantrum over wanting 2 vitamins. Of late, we put her on the "naughty step" and ignore her until she stops freaking out. Not the best solution, but, I've never seen a kid who could throw such a lengthy tantrum...
Love the photo with the ferris wheel in the background.
love em kelly!
This is such a hard time, with so many thoughts and emotions swirling around...
Argg! I'm so frustrated, too. We all know bad things were probably happening, but the way it has all gone down makes me think that VN is so mad they will never work with out country again....at least in our child-rearing years. I can't blame our government for being upset about the bribery, etc. Everyone should be upset about that! I just wish that our government would have taken a different approach and come up with a resolution that would have benefited the children. I'm also upset with VN for not keeping a tighter rein on things. Mostly, I'm just mad that there are people all over the world that think they can make a buck on a kid.
Anyway, that is my rant for the day!
ha. I think I might have laughed my way through that 20 minute fit! Kids are so ridiculous sometimes! Hopefully it is just the molars. I don't think we have to worry about molars for several months but I guess you never know.
I am so jealous of your pictures because lucy has such great eye contact with the camera. Addison refuses eye contact or even to half-glance at the camera, ever. So 90% of my pictures are side profile which gets old. I love the pictures with Lucy's big beautiful eyes - I think she needs to have a talk with Addison ;)
Such sweet pictures. Love the colorful dress she is wearing. Lucy pictures always make my day better!
Kelly, I haven't peeked in on Lucy in a while so I've had great fun reading your blog. Lucy is beautiful and such a precious and curious little girl. I can see that you are a wonderful mom, giving her so many creative and playful experiences and loving her so much. I haven't seen the hill country since the 70's when we lived in San Antonio. I know why you love it. I did, too. Texas wild flowers are glorious and I've always wanted a Texas hill country house. I bet you and Lucy will get to know that part of Texas well. I so enjoy your pictures of Lucy. Love, Coco
Love her True Religion jeans.......My favorite. She is so precious. You are an amazing photographer. Courtney
Love the pic of her walking away (next to last.) She looks about 10 years old! I guess you four girls were just fashion failures because you didn't have TR jeans when you were growing up! And the last pic is awesome. Not sure what PaPa was up to. Don't remember Lucy hanging from a cliff. Oh well. Love and miss ya tons. LeeLee
I hear ya. I was naively clinging to hope that maybe the two govts would somehow weed out the bad seeds and continue on with adoptions in a more transparent way. I hate the mud flinging that is still going on. :( It just adds madness to misery.
She is gorgeous!!!
Kell--PaPa clarified to me this morning that he was referring to the tilted pics (which I love) in which YOU were hanging from a cliff to get the angle!! Give Elvis my love! LeeLee
Once again great pictures and a great post!
