A Moment to Remember

Last night was a night that will remain forever in my head with the fondest of memories. You know how I am always bragging on the Arboretum that we have? I LOVE it there. It is my heaven on earth. It is so relaxing and beautiful and Lucy just runs and runs while I sit and take it all in. There are huge fields of the most goregous green grass with flowers all around and I like to just sit in the middle of the field and watch Lucy be free. Well, during the spring and summer, they do a summer concert series. Last night was the first one of the year. We got there about 1.5 hours before the music started and ate a picnic while Lucy and Ava (another one of her besties) ran around. They would come over to us every once in a while for a quick bite and then were gone again. Then Lucy's other best friend, Anna, and her family got there. The kids were so happy and dancing to the music. Did I mention it was a Beatles tribute band??? Our favorite!! It was literally a perfect night - a light breeze, perfect temp, no mosquitos - simply amazing!! We ended up taking the three girls down where the stage was. They could get right up by the band. There were lots of kids down there dancing and just having the best time. Lucy stood there for a while, studying the situation like she always does, and then she just let loose and started dancing. I just stood there watching her. I could have cried like a baby because at that moment, life was perfect. All of the stress of day to day life was gone because everyone was so happy and content, listening to great music on a perfect evening. Our baby girl was out on the dance floor with her friends, dancing to the Beatles, wearing her neon necklace, and smiling as big as she could. All I could think in my head was how lucky Justin and I are to have this child and how much I love her. I get told all of the time how lucky Lucy is, and I always just smile and politely say that we are the lucky ones to have her as our daughter. But no one gets it the way we do. We are so incredibly blessed.

Here are a few pictures to show how happy she was with our evening.

Freeze that memory! It all sounds so perfect and so peaceful. We have a summer concert series like that here too, though I imagine if we go to any nights of it this year the experience will be quite different from yours - picture 1 parent chasing after a 2 year old who is unplugging wires from the speaker system, the othe parent trying to calm 2 screaming babies. Hmmm, I think we'd have the potential to single-handedly ruin the perfect night for everyone else!

Holy smokes, your arboretum makes our arboretum look like a backyard garden! It is huge and beautiful and open and I love the water! Lucy looks sooo happy. We had a smiliar day today with Addy and her bestie (minus the music, beautiful environs or comfortable seating! LOL) and it is days like that that i wonder how I ever even lived before I had kids. Perfection.

Great post Kel. Moments like that are to be cherished; to be saved for those days that just aren't right. It reminds you just how perfect life can be sometimes.

Sounds like a wonderful night. I am so jealous of the weather down there...I think I have said that at least once before. Anyway, it looks beautiful (and Lucy looks very happy).

How perfect. Lucy looks like she's having a wonderful time in the photos. I wish we had an arboretum! I think the desert botanical gardens are the closest thing...not quite like the endless green grass and water in your photos! :) I'm so glad you had such a nice evening.

how precious. Where do you do all your shopping. She is always dressed soooo adorable. You are going to have to watch those boys when she gets older. Hopefully we are getting closer to finding out who our little one is. We are #2. Looking at Lucy makes me even more excited.

Sounds like a wonderful place with a wonderful kid. Yeah the "lucky" comment is always so funny to me because we are the ones truly blessed to be Jade's parents. I know what ya mean.
