So Lucy is literally busting at the seams because she is so excited about her upcoming birthday party. I love that she understands that a party is coming up and it will be all for her. Every single day she says, "Party???" And I tell her that we still have a little while to go. Every day she gets out the cute plates and party favors for the party and shouts, "Birthday Party!!" She gets out each favor and assigns it to one of her friends. So cute. When she sees one of the invitations she gets so excited. When we ask her what she wants for her birthday she enthusiastically says, "Cake and bicycle" every time. Easy enough baby girl. Your wish is our command and in the garage we have a shiny red old school Radio Flyer tricycle for you - streamers on the handle bars and all. I can't wait to see her little face light up when she finally gets her bicycle. We also have an easel and art kit for her. For her party, which is a week from Sunday, we are having friends and family over with sprinklers and baby pools for the kiddies and hot dogs and apps for dinner. Very low key and low stress, but lots and lots of fun. I got that cute octopus sprinkler from Pottery Barn Kids. Just wait until you see how precious Miss Lucy is going to be for the party. We have already been practicing wearing what she will open her presents in. Oh, it is so cute. Don't worry, it just goes with her swimsuit, but it is really really awesome. You know I wouldn't let my girl down with a crappy birthday outfit. She is going to be quite the spoiled princess for her big day. I must admit, I am pretty excited to watch her open presents and eat ice cream cake. Oh the ice cream cake, she will be in HEAVEN!
Two days ago we let Lucy play in a rain shower we had. It was a light rain and I didn't get great pics. I want to get some fun ones of her in a better shower. Today we played at the Children's Museum. We have never been before and it was a blast. I can't handle the miserable heat, so we are always looking for fun indoor activities. There was so much to do and play with. The kids loved it. Then we met Anna, Louis, and Mandy at the book store. We always have fun with them and to top it all off, we ate yummy Vietnamese food for dinner. When I asked Lucy if she wanted Vietnamese for dinner she said, "No mama, French fries." I am sure the Vietnamese would be proud of her fondness of their food. She literally would not eat one single bite. Anna however, sat and ate several big bowls of pho. It cracked me up. The food really was so good.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. I have been in a bit of a funk lately. Not sleeping well, tired all of the time, grouchy, and just not feeling great. I think it is because we are couped up all day inside and never get any fresh air, but the heat is stifling and the mosquitos are out of control. I can't take Lucy outside for one second before she is swarmed and the bites swell so badly on her soft skin. Blah. I need the heat to chill. I am so lucky because Lucy has been so lovey and sweet the past few days so she always makes me feel better.

Melanie
can't wait to see party pics!!
Happy almost birthday Lucy! I can't wait to see the pictures. She is getting so big!
Yay, a party! Can't wait to see pictures. My neighbor has the octopus and it's adorable.
It's sad, but I'm already planning Lu's party...which is four months away!
Have a great weekend!
I can't wait to see photos from the birthday party! Sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun.
You are so smart to do a simple party with water play... I bet it is going to be a great party and I know Lucy will have the best outfit, she has a great shopper for a mom!
Totally hear you on the heat and what it does to your mood. We are having really high humidity and it brings out the mosquitos like crazy. Not fun!
kelly! i wish we were still in dallas so we could come to the party! i know it will be tons of fun. i can't believe lucy is going to be 2. love and miss, kathy
Oh my goodness, 2 already...time flies!
We are moving to a house in the fall (finally!) so please come visit! It will be nice and cool here before it will be there for sure, and the fall in New England is amazing.
Hugs from Lucy to Lucy!
I'm so excited to see the birthday outfit Kel! It's so fun to see their excitement, isn't it? I feel you on the funk, but hopefully now that Lucy's all better you'll be able to catch up on your sleep and feel better in no time! Loves!
I can't wait for her party! I love that she is so excited! Just think how fun Christmas is going to be this year:)!!!
Awww, her anticipation is just so sweet!!! We are so excited, too!!! I have to say I am now dying to see the outfit!!!!! I can't even imagine what you have up your sleeve!
I am really feeling it too, doesn't it suck? I guess it must be the heat and lack of fresh air now that you mention it.
We have the same problem with Lana and the mosquitos. They LOVE LOVE LOVE her, and her skin swells up like crazy. Even with bug spray they still seem to swarm her. She must be really sweet tasting or something!
I'm sure Lucy will be adorable on her big day!
I am not surprised that Lucy has a wonderful birthday outfit, I am so excited to see it!!!!
I am having a hard time with the fact that Lucy is going to be 2....
Seems like you just got her home. Cami will be 2 in 3 months, I am trying to come up with something simple for that.
Can't wait to see all the pictures.
Hoorah for a birthday! That is so cute about her being so excited. We have a children's museum membership and it is our automatic on a rainy day. I hope the birthday helps you feel better!
I think it is safe to say that anyone who has ever even had a passing glance at this blog would know that Miss Lucy will not have a "crappy birthday outfit" :) Hope the funk takes a hike soon!
Kelly--You wore the girl out!! Had to lie down on the park bench--the little cutie!! Too hot here, also, tired of it. Can't wait to see you all. I agree with Nancy--I'm the grandma, and I've NEVER seen Lucy in anything other than adorable! Take care of yourself and get some rest. See all of you soon! Love, LeeLee
Can't wait for party pictures. Lucy is going to be so excited when the big day finally arrives!
In the words of Swiper the Fox, Ohhhhhhhhhh Maaaaaaaan...wish we could come to Lucy's bday party! We had a similar sounding one for Jack last weekend that I'm behind on blogging about, but it was a blast. It was a bbq by the pool with a Dora pinata and a Dora cake that totally made the party special for Jackson!
I can't wait until the unveiling of her birthday clothes - I'm sure it'll be ridiculously cute. Expecting lots of great photos;)
And, um, about the heat...try having no A/C (or fans) in high 90's. Thermostat has read 89 INSIDE almost every day this week. I'm getting fairly used to this disgusting film of sweat that only disappears during the 2 cold showers I manage to sneak in per day.
Fun fun fun! I can't wait to see her outfit. Sounds like you have planned a fun time.
Ava is very prone to getting large, swollen mosquito bites as well. Her theory is that the bugs think she's cute. I have no doubt that is what is going on with Miss Lucy too. :)
oh, she is sooooo sweet....
I just can't believe all our kiddos are turning 2! It's crazy-ness....
isnt it fun having her be the age where she 'gets' things like her b-day. so cute.
xxoo
I absolutely LOVE that last picture, so cute!
