Welcome to the World, Wyatt!!

This morning at 8:16 am my sister delivered her second son, Wyatt Johnson, via c-section. He weighed in at 8 lb 1 oz and was 20 inches long. He is just perfect and was such a good baby all day. It always amazes me when I see a newborn at exactly how small they are. And it is so weird that last night we were all sitting around talking and my sister had this huge belly with a baby in it, and now her belly is WAY smaller and a little person has joined our family.

Besides being completely overjoyed for my sister and her precious family, a lot of new emotions came up for me. I sat there holding the baby and caught myself thinking so much about Lucy's first days of life. How long did her mom keep her? Did she cry a lot? Did she ever breastfeed from her birth mother? How much did she weigh? Where was she delivered? Does she have siblings out there? Literally, it was like a million questions and emotions were flooding over me all at once. There is just so much that I don't know and probably never will know about the very beginning of her little life. I wish we knew more. Maybe some day we will be able to find out more. Who knows. I have thought about these things before, but they were so real today.

My whole family is in Nashville right now. Lucy is VERY clingy to me and my mom. I have a hard time sometimes when she will have nothing to do with others in my family who really want to love on her and play with her. I know some day she will come around, and that it is great that she is so attached, but it is hard when it is family. She is still just not sure about people that she does not see on a regular basis. I feel bad when she cries when someone looks at her or tries to touch her. Luckily, my family is more than understanding. I just wish she would lighten up a little. I know better than to push her though. We all are giving her the time and space that she needs to open up.

Here are some adorable pictures from today. What a miracle a new baby is!

Hey!

I'm so glad to know that everything went well! He is a gorgeous baby. Your sister is lucky to have her family all around her :-) I know what you mean about all those emotions - they are so deep and intense and sometimes when the floodgates open, it is alot. I think about Anna's birthmother on a regular basis.

Lots of love to your family!

Aww, welcome to the world sweet Wyatt! I can imagine just how hard that must have been to be suddenly overcome with emotion and unanswered questions. It is one of the hardest parts of adoption for me.

It's so funny that Holly is know even more surrounded my boys in Nashville! I can't imagine the thoughts that were going through your head regarding Lucy's life before she became a Pollard. What a lucky girl to have such a wonderful momma and daddy that love her so very much!

I haven't been keeping up with my blog reading/commenting lately, but I'm trying to get better! Love the pictures of Lucy and I'm glad to get a reference for a good photographer in the DFW area!! It will help when we get to bring our baby girl home!! Blessings!
