Please Please Pray

My dog and my original baby, Bruiser, has gone missing. He escaped out of our gate today and it was my fault. The guilt that I feel is unbelievable. He has been gone for many hours now and I am terrified for him. He is a chihuahua who weighs 2.5 lbs and cannot take care of himself at all. We think that he was picked up by someone because a neighbor that we don't know well said she saw a car picking up a dog that she thinks was Bruiser once she saw the signs that we hung up tonight with his picture on them. Please pray that these are good people. People who come back to see our signs that are everywhere. With the help of my wonderful neighbors, we hung 160 signs with his picture. My biggest fear is that they think that he is now their pet. There is a big problem in Dallas of pets being stolen. I will give them a reward, whatever they want, but I so desperately want my Bruiser back. Our bed feels so empty right now and Bianca is seriously devastated. She knows that something bad has happened and she wants her brother back right away. She just looks sad. I am crying right now as I type this, but I am hoping with enough prayer and positive thinking we can get him back home. He is a dog that does not love people, he loves me. He needs me. He must be so scared and worried right now. I feel sick. Please bring my Bruiser back. What a sad and horrific day. This is one of my worst nightmares. He is like a child to me. I feel even worse now for the decrease in attention that he has received since Lucy has been home. I promise I will be better if you just come home, Bruiser.

Long time reader, delurking to say that prayers are coming your way from WI. Hang on to hope! When I was about 16, we had a weiner dog that my mom hated and "accidentally" let out of the car in the middle of nowhere. He survived 3 days, including making it through a swamp, before he wound up on the porch of a friend from my youth group that he had met only once before. She recognized him immediately and brought him home. Miracles happen!!! I'll be praying.

I'm am so sorry to hear this. We momentarily lost one of our fur babies last spring and it was a horrible, heart breaking time. I will be keeping you and Bruiser in my thoughts and prayers. I hope he makes his way back to you very soon.

Kelly, you know I'm hurting with you right now. I truly hope he's back home with you, safe and sound, very soon. I can only imagine the guilt you must be feeling, but please try to keep it in check because it was certainly an accident that he is missing. Sending up lots of prayers and positive thoughts for the safe return of your little boy. Give Bianca big hugs right now. I'm sure she needs them, too.

I am so so so sorry. I hope he gets to come home soon. Make sure you call the Animal Control Officer, you can also send his LOST photo (or fax it) to all local vets so that if he comes around with someone else they can keep an eye out. There are also some websites for lost and found dogs. I would also post on Craigslist.

I am so sorry. We also have a Chi (and a Brussels Griffon)

I am so sorry and hope for a speedy return.

Oh Kelly, I am so sorry to hear about Bruiseee! I just cried when I read your post -- but I know he will make it home! Sophie and Henry were gone for 9 whole days around Thanksgiving and I was just sick about them being out there lost and terrified in the ice and stormy weather, but then 9 days later they were found good as new, still relatively clean and well-fed -- I'm sure the same thing will happen with Bruiser! Maybe someone took him home and when they see your sign they'll bring him back. Just know that he's probably being well cared for and played with, and I will definitely keep him in my prayers for a safe return to his momma! I'm so sorry and please please let me know if there is anything at all I can do to help!

Hi,
Frequent reader to your blog. I will be praying for Bruiser tonight. Please make sure to visit the local animal control services in case he was turned in and also post signs in your town or intersection near your neighborhood and at all local vets incase they take Bruiser to the vet to check to see if he is microchipped. Also for inspiration and hope check out Awaiting Ava's website in Atlanta on a true dog rescue story that just happened at awaitingava.blogspot.com
God Bless,
Melissa in Orlando.

melissa s. sent me here to read your story.
I am in tears for you. I know what you are going through. I lost my Pug Jeter - the very love of my life - and I felt like a piece of my heart was ripped out. I had reward posters up, I called and put an ad in the paper. I called every single vet in the area and told them to call me if a person came in with a new Pug. I called all the shelters. Also put signs in pet shops.
Long story short - I found him.
I will pray for your Bruiser.
Call every single Vet around you and beg them to call you if someone brings in a dog fitting his description, claiming to have just bought him.
i know no words will give you comfort right now, just please know how many animal lovers are out there saying a prayer for you from all around the country.
I just found a missing dog that was stolen from his owners two years ago, and she was just reunited with them. There still are honest people left in the world. The story is on my blog. I chose to believe there are more honest people than dishonest - so we will all continue to pray that your baby will be returned to you.

Oh Kelly - I'm so sorry!! I know *exactly* how you feel! My little tiny dog was lost in the great big woods up the upper Michigan area for several days before we found her. I was sure we'd never ever find her and even went home without her but finally went back to look again and found her just sitting out waiting. This was *days* later and a teeny dog too so keep the faith ok?

Make sure you put out something that smells like you (maybe something from your bed if he sleeps there) just in case he wasn't picked up. I have heard from TONS of kennels that it is a good idea to do this. And you did good with the signs. I hope someone did pick him up and he's safe and you will be reunited ASAP. I'll keep my eye out on all my places I know to look for "dog found" signs online too, just in case, ok? Hugs, I'm so sorry sweetie!

Oh my gosh Kell, I'm SO sorry you're going through this nightmare. The same thing happened to me a few years back...the worst part was that it happened to our family dog, Tigger. I was home babysitting my little sister while my parents were in Russia adopting her bio sibs. They were away 2 weeks, and the last 4 days of it Tigger went missing. I'd left the back door ajar and he must've let himself out. I was BESIDE myself with guilt, regret, grief, etc. I had to tell my parents when I picked them up from the airport and they asked how Tigg was doing- the same time I was meeting my younger sibs for the first time. Ugh, just awful.
Happy ending: turned out some woman had picked him up because he was such a handsome Boxer, but then she saw our signs and returned him a few days later!! I'm pretty sure she stole his sperm or something for her female boxer (weird, I know, but people do odd things sometimes). Maybe I shouldn't have said that last comment, but hopefully no one takes Bruisers man seed for their lady dog, they just bring him straight home instead!
Oh Kelly, I really hope he makes his way home safely. Hang in there - lots of prayers coming your way tonight.
