Feeling Much Better

Thank you for all of the kind thoughts and prayers. Once again, they really really helped. My dad got to come home this afternoon. The test done in radiology on Friday showed nothing - he had to be actively bleeding for it to show anything. Then this morning he had to drink barium and they x-rayed it, and again, nothing showed up. They decided that he is no longer actively bleeding and allowed him to go home. He has diverticulitis and it apparently flaired up in a major way, causing extensive bleeding, and it is now healing and the bleeding has stopped. The problem is, they were never able to identify the exact spot where the bleeding was happening. So, he goes in for a really cool test some time this next week. He swallows a pill that is a camera and wears this wireless thing and the camera travels through his digestive system and sends pictures wirelessly to the thing and then the doctor can see all of his insides. Is that not amazing? It is to me. Anyway, he is going to have to make some dietary changes so that we can prevent this from happening again.

My dad was reading this blog in the hospital and he said, "Your blog has turned into a soap opera. Between Bruiser getting lost and me being in the hospital, there has been a lot of drama in here." He was right. At least thus far it has all been drama with a happy ending. He really appreciated all of the kind comments!

Lucy spent quite a bit of time at the hospital. She was scared at first of all of the tubes, machines, nurses, doctors, etc. Once I got her initially distracted with some snacks, she lightened up and had a blast. I thought we would never be able to keep her contained, but she once again amazed us all and stayed right in our little area. She was so good at the hospital. I know that it made my dad feel better when she was there. She just lights up any room and that makes everyone feel better.

Now, for a little lighter topic, who else is about to pee their pants because they are so excited about premier week on TV this week?!?!? I am!! What are you most looking forward to? I can't wait for Grey's and Private Practice the very most. I am also ready for Project Runway, but I am not sure when it is starting. Any new shows other than Private Practice that I should watch? TIVO is going to be on fire for the next couple of months. YEAH!!!!!

I will continue to pray for your dad, but I agree the thought of swallowing a pill and it showing the doctors all of our insides! I hope it helps your dad!

I too am anxious for the new season to start. Just like when I was younger and it was The Cosby Show or Friends now it is Ugly Betty and Gray's! I am looking forward to those two, but I have the DVR set to record a few others I thought sounded ineteresting like Pushing Daisies on ABC. I am not sure how I will keep up but hey no more watching re-runs!

I'm so glad your Dad is on the mend! My grandpa had a bad bout of diverticulitis a few years ago, and it was a horrible experience.

Oh and yes, I'm anxiously waiting for premiere week too!

Glad to hear that your Dad will be okay. What a cool procedure. Yeah for modern medicine!

YES! I'm so excited for TV this week! It'll pass the time during our adoption process. I love Gray's..can't wait for Private Practice as well. Prison Break is a favorite here--which started last week. And we love The Office and Heros. Is it sad that we have TWO Tivos in our home? One for me and one for hubby!

So, so glad your dad is back home and on the mend. Prayer, doctors and medicine are wonderful things.

I guess I've been living under a rock, because I had no idea this week was premier week. Pitiful, I know. As you know, Prison Break is my only TV vice. Enjoy the week!

So glad to hear that your dad is better. I hope that your sister is feeling good too. That camera thing sounds really cool. Will you get to watch a video or something? How cool would that be to see inside your dad's stomach and stuff!?! I am psyched about premier week! I can't wait for Grey's and for Addison's new series. My dvr is set. Give Lucy a hug for me!

Hey Kelly,

I will keep your dad in our prayers. One of our best friends is a gastroenterologist--they can do such amazing stuff! I've never heard of the camera in a pill, but how cool is that??

It's great news that he is no longer bleeding internally. He should be getting lots of diet advice--the main stuff being to stay hydrated and eat lots of soluble fiber foods to ensure that he doesn't get constipated causing the diverticuli to bulge and become inflamed. (hope that wasn't TMI!) Lucy can share her Cheerios!!

I'm looking forward to Grey's Anatomy and Bones. I also like "My name is Earl" when I need a good laugh.

Kel, I'm soooo glad to hear your dad is feeling better. He's been in my prayers! Now onto premiere week, along with Private Practice, I'm really excited about Dirty Sexy Money, which comes on right after it. It's been getting rave reviews, so I'm excited about checking it out.

Love and miss!

I'm so glad your dad is doing better. I'm sure being back home will help him a lot. I'll continue to keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers.

And YES I am so excited for TV this week. I admittedly watch way too much TV in the evenings. I love Grey's, CSI, How I Met Your Mother and America's Next Top Model the most...but I tune into about dozen other shows, too! (see? too much tv!)

Is today your referral anniversary (is that what you call it)? I know it is close. Can you believe it, one year ago you first saw Lucy's pretty little face!

Kelly, Glad your dad is alright! One show that doesn't start until November is October Road, it was after Grey's last year...you can catch up on all 6 episodes on ABC.com-it is very geared to the early 30's crowd. A lot of early 90's referrences.

kelly,
i am so glad your dad is ok. i am not sure if i posted..but he has been in my prayers. it sort of puts it all in perspective during times like that. ALL that matters is family and health. if those are in place, we are all truly blessed.

ok, so now the less serious comment..
i am also excited abt 'the office' and i love '30 rock'.
but i am most excited abt gray's anatomy. wahoo. not sure abt private practice. that girl sort of annoys me! and i really didn't like her hair do at the emmys:)
