Not My Best

So, I totally failed on posting everyday last week of what I was thankful for. I got a little busy with travelling and cooking and you know how that goes. Thanksgiving was wonderful. We ate an enormous lunch at our house and then went to the Cowboys game. We won, which always makes life fun. I got to meet Justin's sister's new baby, Austen, for the first time. He was maybe the best baby I have ever been around. He never made a peep while he was here. I got some good baby practicing in. Late Thursday night, I rode with a friend to Little Rock to see my side of the family for the rest of the weekend. They were all wonderful. I got more baby time in with my other nephew, John. He is at such a fun age. He toddles all over the place. His new nickname is Destructo because everywhere he goes a little mess follows. I got to spend time with my parents and all three of my sisters. We always manage to have a good time. I had a great Thanksgiving, to say the least.

We still don't have a Giving and Receiving date and to be perfectly honest, I am getting worried about our ability to find a flight. I have been watching flights, and they are getting more and more expensive for Christmas time as each day passes. I have been begging our agency for more information, but they just don't have it right now. Maybe tomorrow, but for some reason I doubt it. I have been working on getting organized and ready for travel, but I can't really get into it until I know for sure when we are going to actually be leaving. I would like it to be NOW!!

I have been sick the past couple of days with a sinus infection. It has really knocked me on my butt, but I am starting to feel better thanks to some medicine. I had to spend 3 hours at the medical clinic by our house on Tuesday after work. It was so annoying. I read a book on Vietnam though, so I wasn't too bored while I waited.

This is really exciting news - it has been snowing today in Dallas. Can you believe that?!?! Snow. Yesterday at 6 pm it was 75 degrees, and today it is snowing. It obviously won't stick, but we never get snow, so everyone gets all excited. It is freezing to me. Bruiser and Bianca absolutely despise this weather. I think their little paws are going to freeze off when they go out to go to the potty.

I am off to continue reading about being a mom. Each day I think of something else to worry about that we don't know how to do for a 5 month old baby. We can do this, right???????

Kelly,

Don't worry about not knowing how to handle a five month old baby. I was in the same boat when we brought Dante home. With the help of friends, spouse and family and your baby of course, you will be an expert in no time.

Hope they let you know the date soon.

It sounds like you are fixin' to be a great mama! Worrying is what moms do best because they love so hard. Face it you are a real momma now!
I thought you you and Miss Lucy about ten minutes agio while I was doing yoga. I will send some good vibes. I had a dream yesterday that I was looking at a calendar and the date of dec 11 jumped out and was shining. Maybe that will be a big day for you. I hope that we will finally be able to start our dossier.
Oh, it is snowing here to which is totally rare!
Best wishes!

How come everyone down south is getting snow? Up here in the north I am hoping & praying for a white Christmas and so far there is not a single flake in the forecast!! This is so odd.

Hopefully your agency will have some news for your soon. It's so hard to plan & prepare when you don't have any dates. :( But I'm glad you had a good Thanksgiving and I hope you're feeling better soon!

Kelly,

You are going to be a fantastic Mommy to Lucy. You shouldn't worry about that at all. You are going to get her in your arms and you won't ever look back. I'm happy for you that you are getting a baby that is so young. There's nothing like a baby! My FAVORITE time with my girls when they were little was 6 months to 1 year. The change so much that each day is a new adventure. My girls were both so happy and content when they were that age. Just a whole lot of fun and laughs. I'm guessing that Bianca and Bruiser will make her laugh, if they want anything to do with her! We have Erin's first "belly" laugh on camera. Our dog was licking her toes! I know that you are going to be a great Mom. You are getting her at a great time in her life....for all of you!

God Bless,

Believe me..it just happens. You will be a great mom. I always say, "dumber people than us have raised children" so I know we can do it. Hopefully you will get a timeline soon for your G&R!!

I hope you get an update soon on your timeline. It's so hard waiting and waiting. As my husband said last night, do you relieve you are month(s) away for having your baby, wow! You will be a great mom, don't worry and if we mess up a little at first we will have great stories to tell :)

If your fur babies are like mine, they have given us LOTS of practice at being good mommies. You'll be a natural. Let's just hope we won't spoil our children as much, though! LOL

Praying you get definite dates (and good airfare) soon.

P.S. For anyone wondering, yes, I do realize fur babies are different from human babies.

Kelly,
You'll be a great mom. You will know what to do. You'll be surprised how much your mommy instincts kick in and for all the rest just ask friends and family.
I can hardly wait to hear your G&R date. I know it must be agonizing to wait. Hopefully soon you'll know. Then you can really start packing.

That is totally true about the price of flights right now. If we do get to go to Russia this year the price is going to be outrageous. If only we could get some advance notice! Any news on your end?
