This is me pushing through the blogging rut. I gave up sweets for Lent today. Really people, this is a HUGE deal. I am a sweets, candy, cookie, cake, brownie, CHOCOLATE kind of girl. I crave it all of the time it feels like. I swear I didn't used to be like this. So last night I ate a chocolate bar with almonds that was about as big as me. I savored it and thought how sad I was that I wasn't getting it again until April 4th. The next few days are going to be not easy until I get used to not craving sugar all of the time.
On top of the missing sweets, Annie is getting up a minimum of 8 times a night right now. And when she is awake, things are really not pretty. She is just a wreck most of the day. We finally have just had to laugh about it. The only thing that I can think could possibly be making her this nutty again is 2 year molars. She will be two April 1st (what?!?!?!), so maybe they are forming and making her crazy. It is such a sad day when you can no longer blame your child's behavior on their teeth. 4 more to go for Annie and then she is out of luck. I took this picture tonight because I was so overjoyed that she was happy for a minute.
Need. More. Rest.

My little one is the same with with sleep. I never have any clue why she wakes up 5 - 10 times each night. Sometimes I think it's a lot harder on us than it is on them. Hang in there, Kelly!
Ditto. Hang in there. Because when you blink you'll be worried about her riding around in a car with some boy. Crazy!
Found a memory stick on the shelves of my dresser. I have seen it before, dust around it, put it in that little drawer, then back up on the shelf. Well, I just put it in my photo frame, and it belongs to none other than Dada himself! He's still as cute as ever, a few years younger, and I think he and his crew must be on one of their trips--zoo, holding animals, big blue bird, etc. So, I'll pop it in the mail so he can show the girls all the animals!
You can do the sweet thing, sweetie! If God can give up his son, I think we can live without sweets and a coke. Funny how we become obsessed, tho, isn't it?!
Here's hoping that Anners has a better night. Don't know what the cycle of the moon is. My Mom used to blame things on that! Lucy's ok, right? Love and kisses to all, LeeLee
And Holly Dolly, you are in trouble for not letting your momma know that you and the family arrived at the ski resort safely. You did, right?
Good luck with the sweets thing, that would be really hard for me too!! My girlie still wakes up at night and she's 6yrs old! Hope Annie has some better nights ahead :)
btw, do you know what shade of blue is on your walls? Love it! I've been searching for a blue.
i am doing the sweets thing too and i have been having serious withdrawals all day. we can do it! is something going on with the moon??? wilson has been up a lot at night and he and anna kate have been totally off this week...ugh! thank goodness for sunshine today:)
Sorry you've been having a rough time.
don't let annie's waking moments upset you too much. one of my twins still wakes up sometimes...and she is four. hope all goes well with you giving up sweets. have a good night.
Wishing you a really good night's sleep!!!
Oh dear...sleepless nights are not fun. The only thing that wakes up my 28 month old that many times being that upset though is when she has an ear infection. Any possibility of that? I hope whatever it is clears up soon & you can get some rest. I am not very fun when I haven't had any sleep! Still enjoy reading your blog! Glad you are keeping it up. I'm doing the 365 this year & it is hard to post every day! Some days are just not very exciting...
I'm trying to give up Diet Coke for good, not for Lent, and I am having a heck of a time with it too. So I feel your pain. Your girls are just the cutest little people! I have two young boys, and when they are having the issues a 7 year old and a 3 year old have, I think of the same thing your mom mentioned, I'd rather be dealing with this now than worrying about them out with their teenage friends!
I'm glad you are trying to post every day, I love to come to such a positive blog!
Jenni in Ohio
Hang in there girl! I cannot believe that Annie will be 2 in April!! Where has the time gone?? We're praying for ya'll!!
Having same issues w/ Ellie and her sleep. I'm with you - I blame the (possible) molars. I can't see 'em but I know they're there somewhere!!!! Cute pic of her smiling though. Scrumptiousness.
Hi Kelly!
Just stopping by to say Hi... I thought you had stopped blogging I think my bookmark was off. I was glad to see you have continued to blog! The girls are precious as always and your photography is getting even better if that's even possible!
I will be on the same train as you for lent! I gave up bread, cookies, and chocolate... It's already been hard... Good luck to us!
Have a great week.
I gave up sweets and "empty" carbs like pancakes. Day 2 and I have a major headache. Aah! Guess that just goes to show how badly I needed to do this. I finally had to give away or toss the leftover Valentines day sweets- too much temptation:)
I am feeling your sleep pain! AND omg I could not go off sweets.. especially at Easter time... I love Easter candy! So my hat is off to you!
that is a biggie...good luck!!!
i also have a sugar problem. i keep peppermint patties/dark m&m's in the fridge and eat them all throughout the day.
i was putting honey on toast one morning and lee looked at me and said 'dessert?'..i had literally poured 5 tbs onto one piece of toast. hee:)
but sugar is SO good!
I must say, Eliza was the worst teether. She is much more pleasant (although still passionate) now that her teeth are not an issue. My baby is a nut lately. He hangs on me all day long and isn't happy unless I'm holding him...I'm blaming it on teeth...and being 13 months old.
I'm totally going with the teeth. Eli has had a couple really grumpy nights lately and keeps sticking his fingers in his mouth which he has never done before, so I'm thinking his molars are giving him a bit of discomfort. I hope Annie feels better and sleeps better really soon!
Thanks for pushing through your blog rut. What a cute photo of Annie. I'm with you - both my girls are not good sleepers - have not had a good night's sleep in over 3 years!
