Today I am thankful for some one on one time with Lucy. I have been asking her if she wanted to go with me to get our nails done forever. For whatever reason, she did not like this idea at all and always said no. However, when I asked her yesterday, she said she wanted to after she asked me if it was scary there and I assured her it wasn't. Funny girl. So off we went. She sat in my lap perfectly still. I am serious, she didn't move an inch while she got her fingers and toes painted. All of the girls that worked there couldn't believe how awesome she did. I knew she would be like that because she is still very shy in unfamiliar situations. She sticks right with me and she knows from me painting her nails that she has to stay really still. She chose her own color and I love that it ended up being named "Oh Santa!" The girl painted a flower on her big toes and thumb nails. All of the ladies were talking to her in Vietnamese and asking me lots of questions about her. Of course they thought she was a beauty!! We had a lot o fun and I look forward to more trips like this with both girls as they get bigger.
We went to church this morning. We have been terrible about going to church because Annie flips out in the nursery. Our church has a service that we could take her to, but I can't concentrate or pay attention at all trying to keep her occupied and quiet. I like to pay attention and listen, so we have just not been going. Bad, I know. I am going to have to just work Annie up to being able to stay there for an hour. She made it about 20 minutes today before they paged me. She and I watched the rest of the service on the big screen tv. She had gotten quite upset, so she kept her head on my shoulder until the very end of the sermon. Then she was all smiles again and waving at every person that walked by.
It is actually getting cold here tonight and we have a fire going. Love that!! Hope everyone has an awesome week.

lucy's nails are adorable...how fun! i got those cmas pjs for anna kate too. oh no annie...i really hope the nursery gets better...it is so hard.
It's nice that they'll page you if she's too miserable. That always makes me feel better...even though I'm a little disappointed when I get the page. I'd much rather that than let a poor baby be miserable and inconsolable for too long.
Love the girls nails day. I bet she was thrilled doing something all grown up with just the two of you.
Oh, and nice job on placing in the I *heart* Faces contest...again!

Glad they're still loving that little lamb! It's so cozy. Hope you and the fam had a wonderful Thanksgiving...I was thinking of you all as I was watching the Cowboys!
Our Molly did the same thing at church for the longest time. She would get hysterical when we left her in the nursery. We did the same thing--we would leave her for longer and longer periods and finally one day she stayed! Now she just walks right in! Hopefully the same will happen for your Annie! :-)
Lucy I love your pretty nails!
We have JUST NOW (at 3 1/2 years of age) been able to leave Loston in the nursery. And, yes, there were several weeks when we didn't go at all, because there was no point. Several ladies at our church assured me that they went through the same thing! I don't know what changed, but suddenly, he can go to the nursery without me now!
I hate to say it, but I'm glad I'm not the only one dealing with this. I went to church for the first time in weeks because 1) he falls asleep before time to leave for church or 2)He is unmanageable during the service and cries hysterically if I take him to the nursery.
Even if he wasn't adopted, there is NO way I could let my child cry hysterically for me like that. It breaks my heart. I wish our church had a TV so I could still hear the sermon, but they aren't that high-tech yet.
Let me know if you come up with a solution!
Lucy's names are way to cute!
I love the picture of Annie holding Lucy's hair strand, seems she found it fascinating, perhaps she would wants long hair also, love their PJ.
Taking Mad to get her toes done are some of the best times we have ever had! I LOVE the photo of Annie playing with Lucy's hair.. its the BEST when they are loving and sweet with each other right! As mine get older those moments are further apart so I sure treasure the sweet moments!
Sorry to hear about missing church. It seems that it is so important to you... you had just posted that in a previous post so I know this season is hard.
As wild (or controversial) to some as this sounds, we took both our kiddos into the church nursery the first weekend we were home. And it just became part of their routine. If they did get upset and cry for us I told the volunteers to wait it out with them. They knew we were coming back and they learned... it is hard to let them cry, but we knew we needed that one hour to renew. My heart knew that the one hour would not harm our bonding.
I am just not the mom I am supposed to be without that time with the Lord.
I know that we are both in bible studies so that helps when we need that extra dose of strength from God during the week.
Thank you for always being honest in the good and bad of life. We all have those areas!
Have a joyfilled week,
Natasha
