For the past week or so, I have been extra emotional. I cry at absolutely everything. I think a big part of it is that a couple of my very best adoption friends are in Vietnam right now with their babies, and I have an additional 2 months of waiting. I am glad that my agency is ethical and taking their time to do everything correctly and by the rule book, but that doesn't make me wish that they would hurry this up some. Also, I still have no update. No new pictures, no new measurements, nothing. I just wish I could get some information on Lucy and make sure that she is okay. I do feel good about the fact that my above counter is in the 60s now. It started at 85 days to go.
In order to make myself feel better, I have started getting out my Christmas decorations. That is right, I said Christmas. Yes, I am well aware of the fact that it is only November 6th and that Thanksgiving is 2 and a half weeks away. And you know what, I don't care. Christmas makes me more happy than anything. Justin is out of town and he is going to come home to quite a surprise. I started by just getting out my new stuff to admire it.
That is what the first two pictures are of - just the new stuff. I always end up getting a bunch of new stuff, but this year I was lucky enough to get to order a bunch of stuff wholesale through a friend. It has been a blast getting Christmas goodies at half price. That means we can get twice as much, right?!?! There is still some stuff that has not come it yet.
Then today, I decided that I needed to unwrap all of the ornaments for both trees. You should have seen me getting the boxes out of the attic. I am lucky I didn't kill myself. It was absolutely necessary to go ahead and get them out so that I could assess what we have. This way I can make sure and put my very favorites in the front and center of the trees. Each year as I get out our stuff, I can't believe how much I love what we have and how beautiful it all is. I LOVE IT! I am feeling so much better already.
Here are the ornaments for the kitchen tree, which as you can see, is purple, green, blue, and gold. It goes so well in our kitchen that is predominantly green with purple and gold accents. This is my funky and fun tree.
Here is my coffee table in the living room covered in the bigger, main tree's ornaments. It is only allowed to have ornaments that are red, white, or silver. It is the traditional tree and the one that the gifts go under. It is classic and gorgeous. I am a big fan of TONS of ornaments. I don't really think there is such a thing as too many ornaments, as long as there is only one per branch. I am no where near one per branch because it is a 9 foot tree, so there is still room for some more ornaments.
Justin gets home tomorrow. I would already have the trees up if I could man handle them on my own. We will put them up together tomorrow night. Then on Wednesday I will get everything else in it's place. I will post lots of pictures of the final product. I think that everyone should post their Christmas decorations. It is so fun to see how everyone interprets their idea of Christmas. I will go first, since I am the only idiot already decorating, but I expect the rest of you to follow. It will be joyous!! So, let me just say, Happy Holidays!!

I say do whatever makes you happy, so put those trees up, girl! Can't wait to see the final result, and I LOVE the colors for your kitchen tree.
Oh this PERFECT! A great way to cheer yourself up!!! Remember when i started celebrating halloween back in like August? Same thing! You know you will meet Lucy right after Christmas so what better way to make yourself feel better than to start christmas NOW?! Your stuff is gorgeous!!!!! We have one tree I just adore - it is baby blue and silver themed. And we have a hodge-podge tree (kids ornaments - you just wait - you will totally ruin your theme the day Lucy brings home an ugly-but-perfect handmade ornament! hahahah) and the other two dont have a theme yet. I hope I'll be able to do a theme for them this year!
You are not the only one, my husband has already started decorating for Christmas. The outside lights are hung and tonight he is going to start working on the inside of the house. We also do 2 trees, one in our large picture window in the livingroom and one in our finished basement.
Tis the season!!!!
You have beautiful stuff! I've been anxious to get our stuff out too- we still haven't put the Halloween decorations away yet! lol
I really love the color schemes for your trees. They are very beautiful, I can't wait to see the finished product.
I hope you get some updated info on Lucy soon. I know how hard the wait is (right there with ya) but I guess all we can do is be thankful for an ethical process and hope the holidays make the time fly by. Take care and have FUN! :)
I'm glad you've found something that makes you happy! This process is such a lng and hard wait. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product, by the way I love the colours of your kitchen tree ornaments!
I cannot wait to see your trees. I wish you peace in your heart while you are waiting. Do whatever serves you while you wait. You time is coming soon Kelly. I put up my nursery pics. Check them out!
You have some beautiful ornaments, Kelly!! I love them. I'm a big fan of putting LOTS of ornaments on a tree. I love the look. We have way more than one per branch on our tree. The whole tree just sparkles with so many ornaments ;)
At this point in your adoption I believe that it would be a mistake to fall from the attic.
I think decorating is a wonderful way to occupy your time until January. After the holidays we will be frantically getting ready to bring our girls home!
I want to get down my decorations now. I will be careful in the attic!
I LOVE Christmas and am secretly plotting a way to get hubby on board for decorating early this year as well. We only do two trees, but the one is a live 12 ft concolor pine, I can almost remember how it smells! My obsession however is with the lights, I want the tree to GLOW (if you squint your eyes at a tree, there shouldn't be any dark areas.) Every year I say one more strand and my husband (who works for a power company in a safety division) says it is not a good idea. When all is said and done our front window provides enough light for walking the dog at night. I am getting the bug now too!
Keep hangin' in there.
Jenn
PS The silver and red ornaments look like an OSU buckeys fan dream!
Kelly, you're killing me. Totally killing me. I LOVE all the ornaments! When you said you ordered a bunch of stuff you WEREN'T KIDDING!! As always your house is going to be fabulous and I'm going to wish that you would come to my house and decorate the whole thing...oh, and bring all your ornaments and decorations with you since I have NONE. I showed Stephen and got a "HEY, when are YOU going to start decorating OUR house like that? " So I went and gathered up a bunch of pinecones today and promised I'd order the ornaments this summer. Until next year we will have to live vicariously thru you!
I love the colors! You can come do my Xmass tree!
I hear you about the waiting....
Waiting for referral...
Jena
I am so glad to see that I am not the only one wanting to get started on Christmas. The season is so short. I love your decorations! I can't wait to see pics!
Wow you really are organized. Do what ever it takes to make you feel better during this wait. Now if I could just figure out something to occupy my time!!
Your decorations are beautiful! Please post pictures when you get them all on the trees. Hang in there, I know the wait is terrible and not getting updates stink. We received good news today. All of our paperwork is now in Vinh Long and we are just waiting on our G&R date. That could come in two weeks to four weeks. I'm praying for no longer than two weeks!!!
